First I'd like to thank everyone on the board for the reports and information on fishing for salmon. I've recently moved from Pennsylvania out here and all of the information provided here has helped me land a few fish so far. I've been fishing the Nooksack for the past few weekends and so far my catches have been 1 king salmon (released) on 8/26, 2 pinks on 8/26, 2 coho released 8/26, yesterday only had a few hours to fish but managed to get a nice coho. Being limited to bank fishing has made it a little tough and after trying at the Snohomish as well, the Nooksack fishery seems to be much better, with more bank access.
Some things that I've used to find fish, find a little deeper water (over 3') , watch the bank for eddies and changes in current flow, and just because everyone else uses a certain lure doesn't mean it is the most productive. I have yet to tie on any type of spoons.
I usually fish alone making it hard to get pictures of fish I release (they are never brought to shore) to decrease the chance of mortality.
As soon as I figure out how to post pictures here from my phone I will update with photos of fish caught.
I drive a big F350 maroon and tan if you see me stop by I could use some fishing buddies!
