22 Fishless Days Has Ended - 5lbs about 21inch - Bank of the Sky

Arrived to a spot I've scouted the last week about 7am. Tried 2 different lead drift setups, lost both within a 20-minute stretch. Fish were flip flopping, doing their thing.

Younger guy posts up about 30 yards down from me, within maybe 5 casts, he hits a Pink on his jig.

I grab my light setup 8' 6" rod, 6# test and toss my squid jig out. Twitch it through the stretch a few times and right before the end of the run BOOM, hit, set hook, runs right at me, 1 minute of reeling... I scramble to grab my net while balancing on the rock bank, step into a small pool between the rocks, roll my ankle, just about fall into the river. I fumble around for a few swipes and eventually net the little sucker. Mission Accomplished, I try a few more casts but decide 1 and done would suffice after the long 22-day drought.

Rated this a 4 because two other guys caught a fish from the same stretch of river.

Cheers,
Matt

Nicely done! Has anyone done the drift from Sultan to Ben Howard? When is the river too low to drift? thanks
