1st salmon fishing of the year for me, headed out to Lincoln Park and wasted some time in the shallows when the tide was negative.
A fellow fisherman walked by and recommended that I head over to the area near Colman pool, he proudly displayed a good looking Pink salmon in his bucket.
I headed up to the pool and joined a well-spaced lineup. Not much action all around, nobody else seemed to be having any luck, yet we all seemed to be having a good time anyway. The weather was truly awesome.
After about an hour, a fish went airborne out in front of me, three casts later and I found my pink buzz-bomb hooked into a 8-10 pound WILD Coho jack!!!! A good fight ensued and this bright chrome wild fish was released to re-populate the species. My first salmon of the year, and even though I couldn't take him home - it was a great way to spend part of my afternoon.
My wife didn't believe me because my photo doesn't really display the size of this fish, mental note to put some sort of perspective in my photo next time.
Tight lines!
