Originally put in early morning on a friends boat and did some trolling for trout with nothing happening. no bites or anything. We were trying multiple lures and presentations but no downriggers. Water was choppy but decent. water temp in low 70's. After a whole lot of nothing and a ton of skiers coming out we decided to hit the cove on the north east side of the lake and try to teach myself to bass fish. rigged up a couple rods with plastic worms on a carolina rig and just drifted along with the worm just above bottom. Turned out to be the key for the day. We would drift along from 25' until we got into 10' then motor back out and do it again. Caught at least 1 fish on every drift! Buddy and I ended the day with 12 fish. 2 of them nice big fatties! over all Great day and Great weather.

Goodwin trout just about completely shut off about the 2nd week of July through about mid September, then it turns back on until about November. About the only thing that works for trout there this time of year is dropping bait off the bottom about 4 feet and chumming. I find that boring though so I usually just wait it out til the 2nd or 3rd week of September when the fish get active again.
