Headed out from Dockton marina before dawn, dropped crab pots, and then headed to Browns Point to start trolling for salmon. I started out targeting coho and chinook with a red racer flasher and Irish Creme two-face coho killer. I figured I'd switch to pink tackle if I didn't have any luck, but I got a nice little hatchery coho (maybe 4-5lbs?) at about 6:15am right in front of Browns Point, in about 200 FOW, with about 30' out on the downrigger.
I kept trolling between Browns Point and Dash Point after that until about 10am, but only got dogfish and shakers. Checked the pots on the way in and got a limit of red rock crabs, but only female dungeness.
South Sound has not been good to me, so I consider coming back with any sort of keeper coho/king to be a pretty good day.
