Headed out of Lyons Ferry to try our hands at walleye/smallmouth bass/catfish… We even got a few perch around out a four species day!
Only 1 walleye, about 17 inches while bottom bouncing a Mac's smiley blade hoochie. Here's the crazy thing: we caught all four species using this method! That says a ton about our depth, I realize, but who knew that catfish would attack such a thing!?
Spent a couple of hours targeting the catfish. Got two of them between 5 & 6 pounds. A few other much smaller.
During the heat of the day we threw soft plastics and crawfish crank baits at the shoreline… Caught 20+ smallmouth between 2:30 & 4:30 p.m., with temperatures in the mid-80s… Biggest 4 were filleted alongside the walleye for dinner tomorrow night. Nothing bigger than 14 inches, most between 6 & 9 inches.
If you like action, there is some good catching going on down there! Would have liked to have seen larger fish, but practice makes perfect… Will definitely be back again!
