Been fishing the Nooksack from at least five different spots throughout the main stretch of the river, and have tried every time of day. I have had maybe three or four bites and no fish landed over a good 5 or 6 outings on the river. First cast Saturday was half an hour before sunrise, and last cast Sunday was just at sunset. I also fished through last week as well. I have thrown different colored and sized dick nites, with different length leaders and droppers, as well a jigs, spinners, spoons, hoochies, etc. There have been a day or two when I have seen fish caught but the bite starts and ends fairly quick. The water has been very dirty, with visibility levels almost always under a foot.

50 years fishing for pinks I have tried a few things. First off I think twitching hootchies and even the dick nites work best when the fishare pushing into holes . Once it gets congested they get aggressive. The action always picks up when fish start splashing and porposing the fish directly under them are crowded pushing some fish up to jump or splash and the ones in the hole are mad. When the fish are just trickeling in they are not as aggressive and don't bite as well. Try a bay shrimp behind a small pink spin and glo or a sand shrimp plunked behind a spin and glo when there are fewer fish in the system.

Bait is prohibited as well as scenting your lures and etc..... That is until September 1 and then the limit is now 2 with 2 hatchery coho, but once you get your two pinks your SOL trying to get your 2 hatchery coho.......
