Sorry for the late report.

I fished Banks Lake with the Packernut on Saturday the 5th. We tried jigs for about an hour to no avail, then switched to bottom walkers and Mack's smile blades, slow death hooks and crawlers. We ended the day with about a dozen walleyes. Best 4 fish were 17, 17, 19, and 21". They weren't too particular on depth. We caught fish in 15 to 38 feet of water. Most fish were in the 15-20 foot range. We also got some nice perch and several small mouth bass. The weather was hot but the lake was relatively vacant with not too much boat traffic. Maybe the smokey air had folks staying home. We fished in the steamboat rock area, and Barker. Barker produced one perch but no walleyes for us there. We used purple blades and chartreuse blades with a half a crawler. Water temps were mid 70's.

Thank you for the report. Pretty hardy braving the heat, smoke and relatively low ratings so far, but you are making my fall trip more likely! Sounds like a good time.

I was out on barker flats on my Bucks Bags. My friend from work made the trip with me. No walleye action but did land and release a really nice 19" rainbow trout. Would of moved around a bit more if I had been in the wooldridge. Thanks for the report. How do you like the face shield?

This face shield is made by "Buff" I got it in the XL version. I also have 2 made by Pelagiac (spelling?) and one made by HUK. I like them all but my favorite is the HUK. It has a mesh type front panel that makes for easy breathing. It's also a little looser fit then the Pelagiac ones. I guess the Buff one would by my second favorite. It's not bad for breathing and talking and the XL makes for a slightly looser fit as well. After having skin cancer removed from one of my ears a couple of years ago. I feel like the sunscreen is not always enough. Once things start to get real hot for the day, I pull one on. I highly recommend them. You would think they would make your head and face hot but they don't.
