I arrived at the docks at Honey Suckle boat launch at 9:15 with my two sons ages 7 and 8 and we were trolling with 4 lines in the water by 9:30 or so. I had two poles on downriggers with pink hoochies and silver Macks's dodgers. I set one pole at 31 ft and the other at 45 ft. I then ran two lines out the back with the same set up of hoochies and dodgers. One pole had 2.5 ounces of lead in front of the dodger and I let it out 120ft and the other pole of the back 1 ounce of lead and 120ft back. We had no bites for the first half hour and then 10 o'clock hit and we got some action. One of the downriggers went off and we had our first fish on. My son fought the kokanee valiantly but with a couple of head shakes and some impressive leaps he was off before we could net him near the boat. This scenario played out three more times in the next ten minutes with my boys loosing fish right at the boat before we got our first fish in the net. It was a nice 13-14 inch kokanee. Over the next 45 minutes we caught a total of 8 more and lost who knows how many with all of the four poles getting bites. We ended up keeping 4 of the bigger kokanee one small one that was bleeding. Just as quickly as the action started it stopped and the bite was off. We gave it another 30 minutes and then headed in to get out of the heat. Normally we don't loose so many fish but it was just one of those days. The boys had a good time and we got some nice fillets for a Friday dinner.

Only landed 5 and lost maybe that much times two! Will help with gas or whatever! Just want some kokes for the smoker this year!

Hi Joe. Sorry, I never noticed your comment. I usually have several of my kids with me and a full boat but if I will let you know if I get a chance to bring you along in the spring.
