Got to the lake about 6pm. I flipped the Guide on the east side with a Rage Craw and jig heading south, then turned back north and tried a swim jig with no action. The lake is higher than a week ago but I was still able to squeeze under the Guide and fish the west side. I alternated between a frog on the edges of the pads and grass lines and a Rage Craw and Rage Bug in the pads. I only caught one here on the Rage Craw. Fished as far west as I could staying on the south shore. The west center and north shore are almost inaccessible unless you're in a kayak and can get on top of the grass.

I headed back under to the east side and fished an entire lap. Down the north side I caught one on a Rage Craw in some pads. Then nothing until the lone dock on the east shore, just past it I caught another in the pads. I then cut across due to a stationary boat to the south shore. Here it was getting dark so I switched to a buzzbait along the shore and through the pads. This nabbed the biggest of the night right at 4lbs. Almost to the SW corner and one boiled at my buzz so I dropped it and tossed in a Senko.... nothing the first cast so I threw back and let it sit about 10 seconds, lifted up and felt him, set the hook and had to get him through the pads to the boat, once there he turned around and went back in the pads, I pulled him out again and with one final jump at the side of the boat he kindly returned my Senko and swam away, never even got me hand on him! Would have gone about 3? This is why I don't use nets when bassin', you miss out on too much of the action!!

Three different color Rage Craws worked and the buzz was a black Strike King Double Take. Algae bloom has started, it was really bad in the east end so bring your noisy baits to get their attention!

Nice Fish, Nice Report! Nice little lake. I am grateful that I had a chance to fish it. That was years ago but I did catch some nice fish.

And? I've lost several 6+ bass at the side of the boat and it was thrilling right up to the point they swam off, I got out of them what I needed. I wouldn't take half the fight for all the glory no matter what size it was. To me it's a sign of respect to the fish. I had a 5.5 come unhooked once and he just sat there for a second bewildered....I tossed my rod and grabbed him with both hands like a baby as fast as I could, such an adrenaline rush!! :)

My hat is off to you for fishing that wickedly weedy lake the end of July. Looks like you efforts were modestly rewarded.

I saw a group of guys with a 7lber earlier in the day on Sunday when I was entering the lake. I fished for 2hrs with a few dinks caught on a senko but nothing not even a bite while flipping, pitching, and tossing a frog in the grass and pads. There went my theory on catching them midday in the thick stuff.
