Hit Riffe Lake today for some bank fishing, started at the dam off Hwy 12 at 8:15am. Used slip bobbers with nightcrawlers, shrimp and some krill oil. Fished various depths and tried bottom fishing too. Nothing biting except for a few pesky babies that looked like tiny sculpin(?). After an hour or so of nada my girlfriend and I decided to head to Taidnapam where we like to fish on the rocks under the bridge. We do that regularly and usually come away with at least two nice silvers each in a few hours of fishing.
It was sunny and windy as heck. The water there was very cloudy and turbid with a good deal of debris floating on the surface. It was also like that the last time we were there on 7/19 when we only caught two silvers. We saw two decent fish caught from about 10am-noon. One off the bridge and one from the rocks directly down from the parking lot. That was out of at least a half dozen people including a couple kayakers. My girlfriend caught a measly silver and I got a 10 inch catfish that were both released. Like at the dam, we fished at the bottom and at different depths under a slip bobber with worms and shrimp.
I'm not sure what is causing the cloudiness in the water. I've only noticed it right down by the fishing bridge. I was there on 7/13-14 and the water clarity was fine and we both easily limited out both days.
