Had to go back to my home lake to get a big fish. Sam was ok, lots of fish, top water even, but nuttin big. Today was busy with lots of little fish, and a couple big ones. One fought for a half minute, then got off, oh well. One ran out to get my top water, I saw the wake and hung on! She grabbed it and went back where she came from, deep, then deeper and deeper. After a little bit she was tangled pretty darn good. I had to go in and try to get her up. But I couldn't feel the fish and I had ahold of the line in my hand and it was a solid feel when I tugged it. Figured my lure was lost, might not be able to get it and have to break off, but I'm stubborn. Had to get the oar out to separate the stuff and get down deep. Then she wiggled a little, still on! More paddling and finaly saw the biggie's tail. More paddling and pulling and got her by the mug, and into the boat. 3.10 Largie. Also got a couple on dropshot, and worm.

Ya she did. Must have taken me 10 minutes to dig thru the pad stems and vines and stuff.

Thanks for the story. I am amazed at how tough the pad stems are. You must have had some some stout line on to endure the foul up. Looking at the park rules, it only specifies it open from dawn to dusk. Is that the case for the launch on Sawyer? Frustrated with the hours on Sammamish and this week it is going to be very hot, so I need an early start.

I use 10 lb line on most lures. This was with 10 lb Stren Magnathin, a mono line. I don't usually have that kind of trouble, but when I do, I DO! lol I just have to go get them, which isn't all that often. VERY few break offs, and I can't remember any break offs so there sure weren't very many. The only 2 lures I use back in the weeds and pads with heavy line is the frogs - 2 rods, and buzzbait, and a jig rod, one a casting rod, and the other a spinning rod. All these rods have 50lb braid on them now, use to use 20 mono.

The launch as open 24 hours, as is the parking for trailers. I've talked to a police officer at 1am one morning, and all was well, but he did check out my driver's license and such to be sure. :-)
