Tried my luck on cassidy again. Got there around 5am was in the water at 5:20am. Had the lake to myself for an hour or so. Made my way to the opposite side of the lake, fish were surfacing everywhere, middle of the lake, boat launch area, everywhere, i thought forsure it was gonna be a good day. Tried usng some crappie jigs under a bobber casting towards shore, lots of little hits, no big take downs then my fish finder blew up huge school of something going under my boat. Decided to unclip the bobber and drop the jig down, and bam, hooked a fat 10" perch, tried again but nothing. Soon the fish finder went silent and not hits were to be had. I moved around the lake trying all sorts of crappie gear and spinners both shallow and deep water and only was able to hook into a few more perch and pumkinseeds. Ended up back at the launch at 11am. Maybe it was an off day idk having difficulty targetting these fish, any tips would be appreciated!

Cassidy is a strange lake. Sometimes the crappie bite and sometimes they surface all over and don't. It drives one crazy. Anyone who fishes Cassidy should just plan on enjoying the beautiful setting and the peaceful time there. If one catches a fish or a few it is just a bonus.

When you see them surface like that, try trolling a small wedding ring lure, pink with pink painted blade has worked well for me in my local lakes. tip the lure with worm or artificial bait of your choice. slow troll, like .8 - 1.2 mph.
