The pike on Cda are continuing to cooperate a bit, despite the hot ambient temps and warm water. I managed to catch and release 6 pike on the main lake again yesterday, and missed 4 or 5 others. Amazing how a pike can inhale a bait and not get hooked up and into the net.
No monsters in the boat, but all 6 fish were of decent quality. Top three measured 30, 30, and 32" and weighed in at 7 1/2- 9 pounds.
I did see another monster again. That makes four trips in a row seeing the one I'm after, but not getting a hook in her. I lost a doozey a couple of weeks ago after a short line stripping fight, but since then the big ones are content to just drive by and get my heart pumping.
All 6 fish were caught on spinnerbaits with a chrome blade, in 6-10 feet, and close to much deeper water.
It looks like hot weather is going to hang around again this week, so the warm water temps will still be around for a while.
I hate to see time pass very quickly, but at this point, I'm salivating just thinking about fishing in October. :)

I've too have had pike smash a spinnerbait with a trailer hook and they do not get hooked, amazing. One time the bait did not feel right on the next cast, upon closer inspection the blade was bent at a 45 deg angle. The fish had grabbed the blade so hard it bent it!

Those big ones are still around. Summer is normally not a good time to find them but they can be had on occasion during hot weather.I caught a 25lb fish in August of 2015 then another 25lber on my next trip out. I've been seeing them nearly every trip out lately. Now I just have to figure out how to make them bite rather then just follow.
