Noticed that it was cooler than normal and overcast, so I headed over to Cottage lake around 10am, later than I normally would bother. A few other people on the dock, not many fish coming up (a small bluegill, a small trout, nothing else). I set up to bottom fish with my normal standby - brown hatchery formula powerbait dough on an 8' leader. Caught an 11" trout within the first hour, followed up by a 9" a few minutes later. The trout started turning up their noses at the brown after that. After a few trials I found that the trout were REALLY into the rainbow powerbait as it started to warm up, and I used nothing else the rest of the day. I took home my limit with 11" fish, had a couple other fish on that I lost to my sinker snagging on rocks, and another larger trout that I lost at the dock as I was trying to net.

Nobody else was catching anything - All of the trout people were fishing less than 10 feet off the dock in the shallows, and none of the trout were hanging out in the warm water there. I was sending my lines 80 or 90 feet out into the somewhat deeper water. A few kids were trying to reel in perch and nearly landed a couple, but I was the only one with any trout luck in my time there.
