Well we started my Columbia River Salmon Season off with a bang. I was joined by my father and an ex-neighbor. Shortly after our 4:30 launch my dad boated our first hatchery Chinook. My neighbor weeded thru two wild kings before he got to boat his first keeper. Now it was my turn. I ended up loosing the first one, but ended up landing a keeper on my second attempt. As luck would have it my dad's second king was also a hatchery keeper. My neighbor had a couple more chances, but these two fish chose life over death. After it was all said and done we got to play with 9 king and two sockeye. What a fun morning. Especially first thing when it seemed that all the boats were getting consistent action.
I chase summer run Chinook between Priest Rapids and Chief Joseph Dams. All the fish today were caught on superbait rigs. I felt fortunate to have a 50% keeper ratio. That is the best I have seen in several years.
I have several opening for this fishery and can accommodate 2-4 guest anglers. This fishery is very fun and these fish will be quite fresh for several more weeks. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions regarding my services.
