We, Kim (pinkpole) and I, started fishing just after 8am with only a kayaker and us on the lake. Water temperature was 68-69 and it was mostly cloudy with a breeze until about noon when the sun came out. We left at one.
I used 2 rods stacked mostly 12 and 22 or 10 and 20. Kim had a single rod which was pink or officially “raspberry”. It was slow at first. Meaning we didn’t see any bites. This made us think there weren’t any fish but that was not the case as I found later in the video from the underwater cameras. They just didn’t bite until about 9 or so that we started to get bit. First I got the catfish. It was caught in 40-50 foot of water on top rod at 12 feet on downrigger using a Wannfish A Lure Orange and Gold with a Dick Nite Copper Orange Tractor Tread dodger. I kept this on all day. My lower rod had Pink on with a few bites and one almost in the boat but, really, there was lots of interest in it.
Kim got a fish on and I told her it was small so she could just heave it in. It was the first Kokanee for her for the year and in the boat. She heaved it into the boat whacking me on the back of the head. I lost my net the last time I went out and only had one with a 2 foot handle so it was really awkward netting.
At moments it was hot action and others we had to wait. We even had a double on at one time. I lost as many as I got.
2 kokanee, a catfish, and 5 cutthroat trout.
