The lake is still at early spring levels but the launch at Split Rock is usable. We made it to the lake about 7:30 AM and were the only trailer in the parking lot. It was one of those mornings where the lake looked like glass and the first thing we seen while launching was three eagles gliding across the end of the lake. We went to the North end of the lake and fished across the lake from the lodge. The action was not fast for bigger fish but steady for 10 to 12 inch fish with enough in the 18+ range to keep us fishing all day. With the bites coming on the drop or just slowly bumping across the bottom. Rubber worms done the job but real night crawlers made all the difference if you could get them past the little ones, which is typical for Palmer. Most of the fish came in 15 feet of water. All in all a great day fishing on a picturesque lake.
