We slept in, so Lake arrival was not until 8:30am.
First Kokanee in the boat in minutes, with several more to follow. Fish were mostly 25-30ft deep schooling in the middle of the lake over 60-80ft of water. Many hectic doubles, with fish striking as soon as the lure hit depth.
RMT and sling blade dodgers in silver with any sort of pink worked great. We were trolling all pink wedding rings with silver smile blades.l tipped with Pink Fire corn at first, but we quickly stopped using bait...but the bites didn't slow one bit!
After boating several 10" cookie cutter kokes and losing a few more we trolled edges looking for rainbows with the same gear, finding two nice 13-14" bows to finish out our limit around noon (10-15ft deep in 25-30ft of water).
Swapping tactics we focused on bass and perch with small brightly colored spinners. Mostly dink largemouths with a couple small mouths. We even found some nice 8-9" perch--boy I wish we had Brought our warm water gear for some drop shot action!
There is an over abundance of small bass and perch in this lake, and I doubt you will find many Kokanee over 11" but it is a great place to stop with an easy launch and near town (Winthrop).
Watching other boats, the bite didn't seem to slow down on trout/Kokanee all day. We left around 4:30pm for some East20 pizza!
