6/20/2017 12:26:04 PMGood job for catching 'em on your first time to P'holes. Looks like you found my secret spots! Everything looks fishy, but there's a lot of "dead water" there. C&R, Sbasser

Decided to head to potholes for Father's day weekend with a friend and fellow father. We both have never been to potholes and have wanted to fish it so we made a weekend of it. Went with the sole purpose of targeting large and small mouth bass and did just that. We got there early Friday and got right on the lake. Easily the biggest body of water we've fished which can be somewhat overwhelming. The lake was very different from the lakes we fish around home, which was both refreshing and challenging. Friday was great for us, catching 9 largemouth and they were all quality fish. The biggest being about 3.5. Got right back at it early Saturday morning going for largemouth again and were pretty successful again. I got on what would be the biggest of the trip at 4.74 about 7am. We ventured around the dunes which was very cool. Didn't have the best luck out there, only catching 2 But still a very cool area. We caught the majority of our fish in 2 very similar"coves". Went in for lunch then headed back out to the rocks for small mouth. We mainly threw a dropshot and jerkbait, with the jerkbait being the only thing to produce. Connected on 3 small mouth and 2 largemouth. My buddy landed a nice 3.5 lmb on the jerkbait. We went out early Sunday before we headed back home but were only able to land 1 fish. All in all we thought it was a very successful trip...landing close to 20 fish and losing probably 5. The bulk of our lmb's came on a senko or jig off trees or bushes. Not a bad weekend
