I fished at Goat Lake last August. Little did my husband and I know that the Mt. Loop Hwy was closed due to a rain storm. We decided to hike up there anyway. The whole hiking trip was 19 miles altogether. Finally got up there and I caught a 2lb brook trout. We also caught some 12-15 inchers. We also left our pole out overnight to see if we would have a fish on in the morning. We woke up to a nice fish on our pole. From what I understand you should fish next to the log jam up. That is where most of the fish hide out. USE CAUTION!! When you catch a fish make sure to wash your hands in the water and do not wipe the fishy smell on your clothing. We went to bed that night and had a bear trying to get into our tent. Make sure you leave your garbage bags FAR away from your camping spot and don't camp next to the lake. Bear bells don't cut it, the bears are determined and will bug you all night. This was the most rewarding fishing trip, but the most frightful for me (I almost wet my pants from the bear bugging us). If you do catch a fish and need to hike it back home, bring a towel to soak in the cold creeks along the way and wrap your fish in it to keep it cool until you get home.

This is a beautiful lake, it almost takes your breath away and if you use the right fishing set up you WILL catch a monster.
