Munden's Rising Son Adventures was able to fish Sunday in the Umitilla/Irrigon area of the John day Pool. We were downstream trolling bottom walkers/worm harnesses for walleyes. The fishing is phenomenal and fish are caught almost as fast as you can get your gear on the bottom! Fishing anywhere from 25-40 foot of water was the key and locating current breaks off the main flow is where you should focus! Over the next few weeks, the flows will slowly start to recede and I think we will be able to change our techniques and focus on some bigger fish again!
There are lots of other options too! The shad run is heating up and we will be focusing on these, the sturgeon catch and release season is getting underway, and by the end of the month, we will be able to chase sockeye salmon in the Mid-Columbia!
If you are interested in getting out on a guided trip, give me a call! I do full boat discounts ($800 for 5, $900 for 6), can fully accommodate large groups and corporate retreats, and can cater a trip to whatever you desire!
I am also booking now for Fall King Salmon, which is one of my busiest seasons! I will start my trips mid August, so give me a call and get on the book before I fill up!
I look forward to hearing from you!
