Went to check out Warden Lake in my pontoon to see if the rumors of bass was true. Got on the water bright and early, around 11:30am. Started out with my fly rod, full sink line, and a Carey Special to see if I could catch any trout. Never touched a thing but only tried for about 20 minutes. Stopped in about 12 foot of water by a dock and switched to a spinning rod, 3/16oz jig head, and motor oil with red flake 3" grub. First cast hooked about a 2.5lb smallmouth and he had four friends chasing him, attempting to snatch the jig from his mouth. Second cast, caught about a 2lb smallie. Had a little dry spell but caught another 2lb smallie after about ten casts.

I was talking with the gentleman that owns the dock and he said he caught a trout yesterday that was chased to the dock by a bass. He said the fish was right by the big boulder in front of his dock. I threw over by the dock and let the grub sink. The telltale twitch of the line and set the hook! Was about 1.5lb smallie and I hollered at the homeowner that his fish was still by the rock. He got a big kick out of telling me where to cast and pulling a fish from his spot! I tried a few other spots and lures for bass but to no avail. Switched back to flyrod and slow trolled a wooly bugger but not even a strike. Called it about 3:00pm as my legs we tired of the kick fins.
