I went out with a friend for lingcod yesterday. It was a good day. We started off by dropping traps, then we went to a nearby island and jigged over an underwater pinacle. Immediately started hitting fish we both hooked up and lost a fish, then my buddy landed a small keeper lingcod. After that we tried trolling for chinook but couldnt find any bait or any fish, none of the other boats around us were catching fish either. So we motored over to a "reef" as my buddy calls it, which was a series of small pinnacles situated on top shelf that drops off a 300ft sheer cliff. 1st drop on top of the shelf, 2nd twitch of the jig and i got hammered. After a tug of war i landed a 30lb 42.5" lingcod. Biggest fish ive ever caught yet. We cut the day short because we were running late for other errands. Ran over to pick up the traps and got 4 dungies, 1 red rock, and 1 rock sole in the traps. Crabs were All males all keeper size. Not a bad sea bounty.
