First time I've had a chance to go out to this huge impoundment. I launched at the DNR site and didn't have much time to explore since it was 6:30 PM already. So I headed towards the dam and started fishing the downed logs on the South (?) side. The water was surprisingly clear and about 79 degrees at the surface. We didn't have much luck here but did see several carp that had to be 15-20 lbs. After switching sides of the lake, we finally started catching some small smallmouth (all less than 1 lb) on the outside edge of some dollar pads. Of course, we ran out of daylight before we could locate the bigger fish. On the plus side, the scenery was beautiful and there weren't many skiiers since it was a weekday. I can definitely see the potential of this lake. I just needed more time to explore!
