This report is for the whole month of May. Had to take advantage of the awesome weather weekends in May so we were up at the crack of dawn and on the water at 7:00 am out of the Cusick launch. We fished mainly the sloughs up north to Riverbend except for a jaunt down to Davis slough. Some days it was 5-10 fish but a few days with over 20 fish with most ranging from 2.5-5lbs with the wife catching the 5lb smallie I'm holding. Dark plastics were effective as always but had success with some creature baits too, we had to use a little weight due to the depth in some areas. Tried a couple main parts of the river where the current was interrupted by docks or islands but didn't boat a single fish. Was sad to see a couple bass we boated, both smallies and largies appear to have survived gill netting with marks along their sides. Stupid me, should have never posted that Pike pic. Can't wait for the river to drop for the summer smallie bite!
