Arrived at 6 am and waited in line for the park to open. 6:18 gates open and launched the boat, started fishing with sickbayer very close to the mouth of the incoming river and stayed there for almost 5 hours. We manged to come home with 9 cutts missed a few and had a few dry by's but all in all a great day on the water with great friend. Most of the fish were on the larger side in the 18 to 22 inch range and were a blast to catch. Fished DR at 15 to 30 feet with 22 ft to be the best depth for us that day. No pics as well.....only took one of the cooler so next time sorry guys. But no by catch of any kind. we were using cutt plugs and spoons trolling 2.0-2.8 mph with my new to me kicker motor that will now charge my batteries!!! Oh hell yes no more worrying about running up and down Baker lake charging the batteries any more.

Tight lines.

I trolled around that area, but near the east shore saturday evening, in major chop and boat traffic, I did ok too. 1.5 mph with a white hoochie and chrome dodger. 5-8 pm left with 4 fish, 3 were 17-18 inches. Couldn't believe how much harder these fish fight than a similar sized triploid rainbow! All were caught 5-6 pm then died off. 30 ft down for me, in 75 fow.

Cant wait to get back out there!

great report! Petdawg and I were out at the same time, fished the exact opposite side of the lake from where you were and had our limits in 90 minutes. ours were all in the 16-19" range though, so we may have to mozy on over to your side in hopes of a couple Lunkers! we were using wedding rings/Reli Lures diamond spinners (same style as a wedding ring) behind RMT 5.5 dodgers tipped with a crawler at 1.7. were you using scent?

congratus on a great day of fishing and thanks for such an awesome report!

I was using the 3.5" brads cutt plugs. Pink lady bug, green and silver and brass spoons Bay de Noc flutter laker taker style. Cabelas has some like that and also Ebay. Good luck.

I'm intrigued by reports like yours of trolling above 2 mph. some even say 3-4 mph! id sure like to be able to cover water faster like that. I spent half my time yesterday eve in those same areas with brads and needlefish, but no dice. Then repeating the same pass, slower, and picking up fish with wedding rings or hoochies with dodgers. I must be missing something? hooked and lost a biggin right at your southern hotspot btw...

Keep trying, speed for me is not really key until I get a bite. Most of the time for cutts trolling fast or above 2 mph works for us. We have done 2-3 mph. Now if I use dodgers you have no choice but to run under 2 mph just to keep the correct action. But we just used brads cut plugs that was it no dodger. Same with the spoons. right around 100 ft back and 22 ft deep was the numbers. We had a few passes where nada so it does happen but just keep trying. We watched the red streaks across the FF screen go from top water down to lures and wham...... over and over.
