Got my butt kicked on American Lake during the morning and I couldn't end the day that way, so I went to Hicks Lake around 2PM. I've never fished this lake but it looks like every other lake in this county, so I used my go-to baits. Surface temp was 77 degrees and the fish were in less than 4 FOW. Had a few short strikes and lost fish on a white spinnerbait. Added a trailer hook and landed several fish between 12 and 15 inches, mostly around docks.
Got tired of being in the sun, so we went to the shady side of the lake and pitched jigs under overhanging bushes and branches. Saw a few fish follow the jig down and seem to lose it, so I went to a whacky rigged senko and just twitched it in front of fish and they couldn't stand it. Very aggressive strikes
Caught a bunch of fish and many were good quality fish. All C&R.
