Yes, they usually do. When we went out it was a 2 hr boat ride. So for us, we started fishing in 500+ depth. Everyone got a Halibut within 2 hrs. Then we moved in closer to shore where we started fishing for cods and sea bass. Fortunately for one person he got 2 Ling cods. Only one bass was caught and one yellow tail. The boat we were on was not prepared with jigs for sea bass. Or all of us could have come home with them. That is about the only bad mark I would give this trip. So, if you go, bring along some lead head jigs with white or red/white 4 - 5 inch replacement rubber jigs. Even Mister Twister 4 or 5 inch in bulk bags. Use 3/4 to 1 oz jigs. On this boat the sea bass was only 20 to 30 feet below us. Then we were only in about 40 to 75 feet deep. Lesson learned for next time. :)
