Launched at Bloedel and out on the water by 6 am. We decided to try going under the bridge but had no luck. Unfortunately we forgot the fish finder so there was no real way to see if there were even any fish there anyway. Decided to go back to the main lake and fish the north docks, again with no luck. We started out with some texas-rigged senkos, then switched to the crankbaits, again with no luck. Once we got around the first point by the brown condos I decided to throw a clear/silver swim bait because I had a good feeling. Not sure of the brand but it was $1 at Walmart (2 pack). While we were fishing the private docks on the corner I saw a big smallie jump behind me and quickly casted over the top of him and got him!! He put up a good fight but I was hoping he would be willing to run a little more. No scale but I would say he was a good 4 pounder. Caught him in open water at about 7:30am. Glad to not go home with a skunk but we were hoping to catch more than one fish. We continued along the docks by Britton road and only had a few nibbles. We threw just about everything in my tackle box, from flippin jigs, to spinners, creatures, more crankbaits, more senkos, with nothing more than a nibble. Called it quits at about 9am. A little slower than we wanted but at least we got out there. Need to increase the diversity of my bass gear.

Nice too see a report on Whatcom. I was at blodel the last couple days. Most of the bass are starting to make beds/are already on them. Yesterday a couple of them from under the bridge on a ned rig type jig with a skirt. Also having some luck on the lucky strike jerk baits. Try to do a little bed fishing and I bet you'll get a few chunks.

Nice. I'll definitely have to some research on catching bedded bass. Thank you!

Nice fish and nice report! FYI for future trips, If I recall correctly the water past Electric (the bridge) is a closed area.

I think you are right. We had a feeling but you confirmed that hunch. Thanks!

It is closed past the bridge, to all fishing. I believe it is because of the high mercury content in that area of the lake.
