Launched at Bloedel and out on the water by 6 am. We decided to try going under the bridge but had no luck. Unfortunately we forgot the fish finder so there was no real way to see if there were even any fish there anyway. Decided to go back to the main lake and fish the north docks, again with no luck. We started out with some texas-rigged senkos, then switched to the crankbaits, again with no luck. Once we got around the first point by the brown condos I decided to throw a clear/silver swim bait because I had a good feeling. Not sure of the brand but it was $1 at Walmart (2 pack). While we were fishing the private docks on the corner I saw a big smallie jump behind me and quickly casted over the top of him and got him!! He put up a good fight but I was hoping he would be willing to run a little more. No scale but I would say he was a good 4 pounder. Caught him in open water at about 7:30am. Glad to not go home with a skunk but we were hoping to catch more than one fish. We continued along the docks by Britton road and only had a few nibbles. We threw just about everything in my tackle box, from flippin jigs, to spinners, creatures, more crankbaits, more senkos, with nothing more than a nibble. Called it quits at about 9am. A little slower than we wanted but at least we got out there. Need to increase the diversity of my bass gear.
