It was a decent afternoon weather-wise and the traffic was not lookin too good going home, so I decided to walk over to Lake Union for a few hours.
I arrived at the Chandler's Crabhouse - (the side with the boat dealer offices)end of the dock and there were already about 3 or 4 people there targeting panfish. Small dark-colored feather jigs (probably 1/32 oz) were the flavor of the day and they were all having great success with a lot of fat yellow perch and a couple good looking Crappies. But I was looking for Bass!
I was only carrying a light spinning rod and a few lures that I was able to wrap up and place in my pants pocket. So I walked the perimeter west-ward while casting and retrieving with no success. I made my way around the docks and past Daniel's Broiler and the small alcove there, still no luck. I finally ended up at the small lagoon near the Lake Union park bridge. It was nice to see that they had finally taken down the barriers around the lagoon and the area has been cleaned up and re-seeded.
Caught a few smallmouth using a rapala jerk-bait in bright chrome blue with an orange belly. Water clarity was decent and you could see the fish approach and strike. Lots of fun. Best fish of the day was about 3 pounds - short and stout.
