Went to Clear Lake today arrived around 1:30pm and fished until 7pm. Was windy/cloudy when started and water level is still way up...not many lily pads visible. Tried top water perch #7 rapala, swim jig and blue/white buzzbait. Tried shore first went to right from launch...lost swim jig on snag as was being blown all over. No bites close to shore with top water minnow, swim jig, spinnerbait and buzz bait.

I went down west shoreline until pilings then trolled some to get past park and dock...started fishing again with just the buzzbait due to the wind and rollers...finally got a bite on the buzz bait about an hour in very shallow and in an opening in the reeds...he missed it but some action. So worked my way down to South end and about half hour later bam fish on! Good fight find the drag...don't loose him...lipped and in the boat! Let out a yell! And get the tape measure...16" one inch short of my best last year at this lake. Take a photo and video off he goes...went to far end by dock nothing tried some canals nothing, got a little sunnier and tried top water perch again not even a bump. Decided to not fight the wind back down east shore...so just headed for home...got shots of Eagles circling over head and saw a wood pecker.

tough day just two bites but biggest fish of the year so far.

James
