Took the day off to get my wife out on the lake (without kids!). Cool and overcast in the morning. Started about 9am. We trolled Wooly Buggers in olive and black, no weight, just below the surface and slow. Consistent hits and action most of the time with a few lulls here and there. Lost count of the number of fish caught and released. Well over 30 with my wife catching most of them as usual. Around noon she wanted to try a different offering, so I switched her out to a fire tiger flatfish. That did even better than the Wooly Bugger and she had fun hooking fish after fish for the next hour. We quit at 1:30 with the breeze picking up. Kind of chilly, but fun. Took 5 home for dinner. Got home to pick up the kids from school and my youngest wanted to go, so I tossed her in the truck and headed back to the lake. We only had an hour to fish. I gave her the flatfish setup and I used the olive Wooly Bugger. She nailed one right away off the launch and had a few more hits crossing the lake and then another hookup on the far side. Then for some odd reason the flatfish no longer was the ticket and my olive Wooly Bugger started getting the hits. I C&Red 4 with my daughter only getting one hit the whole time. Then on the way back to the launch her rod buries and she was happy to end the day with the last fish. Kept one of those we caught due to being hooked through the eye. A good day on the water!
