Put the boat in the lake around 0800 with a buddy and his two kids. Motored over to the far end of the lake where it bottlenecks and began to fish maybe 50 yards offshore. One of the kids and I were casting rooster tails, letting them sink for a bout 4-8 seconds then retrieving them slowly. My friend and his son were fishing worms with bullet sinkers and a 10" leader. Worked our way slowly around the north side of the lake. Slow morning, saw a few small trout jump. I hooked two trout on the rooster tail, but lost them in an attempt to hand off the rod to on of the kids. Motored back to the launch to use the restroom and the storm started to blow in. We put back in to give it one more try before we got rained out. This time closer to the highway side of the lake. My buddy landed 1 Perch fishing a worm off the bottom. Wind really picked up and started pouring so we decided to call it after another 15 mins. Overall a great day even though the fishing was slow. Always a treat to see young kids start the day not knowing how to cast at all, and finish it as a proficient caster.
