Didn't expect to get out, but my wife decided to take the kids to the movies in the afternoon, so I threw the Kayak in the truck and headed to Pine. Surprisingly the parking lot was half empty, probably due to the nasty weather. Only a few boats on the lake and the Pier was full, but not crowded. I tied on an olive Wooly bugger with a split shot about 4' up the leader and headed out from the launch. Immediately had a hit. It was raining, but not bad. The weather cleared up and I hooked my first fish. Got it to the boat and spit the hook. Got some more hits, but wouldn't stick. The weather moved in and we got a heavy squall with wind and rain. I was drenched, but as soon as it passed the fish started hitting and I boated a couple along with a lot of missed hits. Another squall came through without any bites during, then after it passed things picked up again and I boated a couple more. And so it went for the hour I was out on the water. Left with my limit of 5 with a couple released all on the olive wooly bugger. Not hot and heavy, but still fun and plenty of fish to be caught. Probably missed twice as many hits as I hooked due to having both hands on the paddle instead of one on the rod. Happy to have gotten out and happy the weather kept the crowds down!
