Chum Salmon

Went out for chum with a few friends this weekend. My coho river was blown so we settled for the chum dogs. We arrived a little past 10am after the drive back from coho river. We fished jigs 2 inches under a float with center pin rod and baitcasters, eventually my center pin rod gave way after about my 30eth chum and broke in half while sloppily high sticking trying to land a fish. I ended up fishing beadhead marabou flies under an indicator with my 9 weight fly rod and managed another 6 or so before we called it a day around 6pm. We all caught more than 30 fish and one of my friends was probably closer to the 50 fish mark. He pretty much had a fish on the entire time we fished lol. At least 80% of his time was spent fighting fish. We had a dozen or so triple headers. It was ridiculous. Stocker rainbows are litterally more difficult to catch than these guys, with the exception of the fight. So more than 100 fish to hand between the 3 of us by the end of the day and boy were we exausted lol. The rivers are smashed full of chum to the point of obsurdity like ive never seen before in my life. Stacked like coord wood.

Nice. Looks like a fun time. Now that is the best kind of fishing. Might be similar to fishing the white bass or wiper spawn. Looks like it might be worthy of a trip some year.

I just realized there is a typo, we fished 20 inches under a float not 2 inches lol

Nice job sir, I smoked some coho and kings this past week. I am waiting for the rivers to get back into shape after all the rain.

Lol. 2 inches in thought that was pretty extreme. Kinda said to myself those must be aggressive to take a jig just 2 inches under. Those smoked chum look great!??

That's nuts. Your arms must have been dead after that.
