Did my Montana sales route Wed through Today (Fri) and I was hopeing to get time to fish Canyon Ferry Lake. Things did not work out for me to have the extra time in that area. My news yrs resalution is to get more fishing in other areas since my job has me going through some of the best fishing in the country.
Hit my last customer around 10:30 am today and since that was in Anaconda I would drive hwy 1 and I would try Georgetown Lake. Got on the ice around 11:30 and the first thing I did was find other fishermen to see how they were doing, what they were using. (never know how that will go) Met a couple good of old boys, they had a real nice Brookieon the ice and as we were talking they missed a few more. I got set up standing on the ice in my leather jacket on a sunny warm winter day on that piece of heaven. I ended up getting a 1.5lb brookie and kept missing other fish. Finally I started hooking those suttle bites and they were spawning kokanee. About 12:30 I landed my last Brookie about the same size and told those guys thanks. Got there info for future fishing prospects. What a great choice to stop and check this mid size lake out. I might try again there in 4 weeks as these guys tell me it is not uncomon to get a 5lber and once in a blue moon a 10lber. Those are some Brookies. The limit is only 2 a day.
