Did my Montana sales route Wed through Today (Fri) and I was hopeing to get time to fish Canyon Ferry Lake. Things did not work out for me to have the extra time in that area. My news yrs resalution is to get more fishing in other areas since my job has me going through some of the best fishing in the country.

Hit my last customer around 10:30 am today and since that was in Anaconda I would drive hwy 1 and I would try Georgetown Lake. Got on the ice around 11:30 and the first thing I did was find other fishermen to see how they were doing, what they were using. (never know how that will go) Met a couple good of old boys, they had a real nice Brookieon the ice and as we were talking they missed a few more. I got set up standing on the ice in my leather jacket on a sunny warm winter day on that piece of heaven. I ended up getting a 1.5lb brookie and kept missing other fish. Finally I started hooking those suttle bites and they were spawning kokanee. About 12:30 I landed my last Brookie about the same size and told those guys thanks. Got there info for future fishing prospects. What a great choice to stop and check this mid size lake out. I might try again there in 4 weeks as these guys tell me it is not uncomon to get a 5lber and once in a blue moon a 10lber. Those are some Brookies. The limit is only 2 a day.

Sorry about the grammer, using my phone to do reports makes it tough to proof read them. every time I use my laptop my photos do not go through. I email the photos to my laptop from my phone. For some reason they lose something during that. Got to get a new phone. You will see more reports in future. I had a bad response from people I fish with for Sturgeon, but I like documenting my memories and sharing.

Soberg if you fly fish and in the same area Warm Springs creek is a FANSTATIC! creek to fish, all CR but you will be happy that you stopped. The fish are huge for that small creek.
The access is just before the Anaconda exit.

To those guys who you talked to that say there are 10lb bookies in GTL, they are full with BS!! I was born and raised in Missoula, MT and fish that lake my whole life! Biggest brookie i seen out of there was maybe pushing the 5LB mark, 24"! During the spawn you can catch 16-19" brookies right off the shore. I'm asuming you were fishing by the pump house? Ice fishing for brookies isnt what I go there for. I ice fish for kokanee! This is by far the best lake for it. My best day was 150 by myself! They aren't big but taste soo good and are very fun to catch! In the summer if you are a fly fisherman. GTL has one of the best blue damsel and traveling sedge hatches!
