Fished Kootenay Lake last weekend and had some success. Boated around 15 fish largest being a nine pound rainbow. Most fish caught on flies on the surface and some on plugs. Weather was good Saturday and rough Sunday which made for better fishing. Can't wait to get back.

Thought I was looking at Steelhead! Report clarified that. Goodness........those are trout!

MotoBoat thanks for the comment. They are Gerrard Rainbow native to Kootenay Lake. They grow up to 25 plus pounds. The Bull Trout grow up to 20 plus pounds.

Well, thank you for the report. Amazing fishery! What is needed in the way of fishing licenses for that lake?

MotoBoat the licenses can be bought online or over the counter. I believe it is $15 a day or $80 a year.
