Well they increased the daily limit of Spring Chinook on the Snake River to two adult Chinooks so me and my son Amos took out of the house at 3am made the two hour trip to Lewiston to the confluence of the Clearwater and Snake Rivers, arrived at 5am and the parking lot was 3/4 full and boats were already out on the water anchored down. Launched and joined the crowd just across the river. It took us a while to get situated and anchored down but finally got lines in water around 5:30. Lots of fish were being caught but our poles were motionless, but then around 7am my sons pole gives a couple of good tugs and "POP" out of the downrigger it comes and fish on, fish hit a K-14 Kwikfish (Double Trouble) with a sardine wrap at 24ft down in 32ft of water, put up a good fight and finally in the net 15lb Spring Chinook with lots of high fives and a good slimy fish handshake. Well couple hrs went by and I was starting to question my set up cause fish were being caught and I was not even getting a bite. So I brought my line in and switched colors, I was set up with a three way, 2ft dropper to a 6oz ball weight and 4ft leader to my K-14 Kwikfish with sardine wrap, was letting my line out and had just touched the bottom with my weight for the second time and I felt a solid "Smack" and it was fish on, boy howdy did that fish put on a show, he came out of the water about 6 times and lots of hoppin and haulerin going on, finally got him in the net! 16lb Spring Chinook. Wow what a trip, hope you enjoy the pic"s. Tight Lines and Keep Reelin!
