The Lyons Ferry outing was only attended by Wendy and myself. Because of the lack of rain in E. Washington, the state stopped the flow of the Palouse River so the only current if you could find any current was going up the river from the up and down of the Snake River that was subject to water flow through the Lower Goose Dam. No current mean that the cat fishing was a bust. Not many fish were taken. Had two great hits on the line that doubled over the poles and broke the 10 lbs line. Some nice small mouth bass were taken. Didn't get any walleye. However, others at the KOA camp reported getting walleye including a 7 pounder within a mile above and a mile below the mouth of the Palouse within 40 feet of water near the shore.
It got up to 104 F while there. Darvey Tackle shop has decided to remain open in Starbuck. Had a talk with the owner/mayor Darvey of Starbuck, Wa. When the Palouse was flowing about a month earlier, the fishing was awesome. He said when they reduced the flow of the Palouse to hold water for agri-purposes, the fishing went downhill.
When in Starbuck, one will find that the food at the Rawhide Tavern and Grill is very good with huge portions. The staff was very friendly. Wendy and I had a good time there.
