We put in at Lyons Ferry KOA about 8:30 and headed down river. There were about a dozen boats fishing around the hatchery, most of them jigging. I thought this was a little odd since it was the first day of salmon season. We continued down river about four miles and turned around to start our troll up river. We were pulling dodgers and flashers behind divers and used herring for bait. We marked a few fish here and there between 40-60 feet but after 6 hours and no bites it was time to switch to Walleye gear. This was our first time using Slow Death hooks behind a bottom walker and I have to say they do caught fish. We trolled the north shore just west of the mouth of the Palouse river, the wind came up so I ran the boat while my wife fished. For the next hour and a half she couldn't keep the small mouth bass off the line. She had a couple walleye hits but couldn't hook up. We will watch the fish counts and try the Snake again in a couple weeks.
