What a day, just dosen't get any better ! All of the fall colors are showing in the canyon, and it is a gorgeous day,sun is out with a very slight breeze, ambient temp is 65*, water temp 54*. Our goal was to leave the house at 12: 30pm, after watching the election returns, accomplished this and headed for the Couse Creek launch, which is about four miles from our home. Launched the boat and headed for one of our favorite holes, this is great, not another boat in sight, three or four fly fishers with their spey rods working the shoreline. brought the boat off plane, pointed the bow upriver, cranked up the little Honda, doctored the plugs with scent, and put the lines out about sixty feet, then started a slow back drift. after about twenty minutes I get a couple of taps on my rod, then the tip goes down and I've got a Steelhead on, put up a good fight before Barb netted it, took a picture and released it. Fished for about another hour, then Barb's rod goes down and she is into a nice Steelhead, this one put up a really good battle before netting and releasing it, had one other fish on, but did not land it. called it quits at about 4:30 and headed for the launch. Another wonderful afternoon on the river in Hells's Canyon.
