I am not going to say exactly where my buddies and I have been fishing the last month, they would kill me if I did, but the walleye fishing has been pretty darn good. We have had hard times keeping a full limit because we have had to suffer through catching fish that are too big; I know that seems like a real tough situation to go through but it does happen every so often. Over the last 3 weekends we have caught and released at least 40 eyes over 22 inches. Most have been in the 5 to 7 1/2 lb range plus a handful of 8 1/2 lb eyes. The largest was 12 lbs. caught this past weekend by my partner in crime Glenn.

All were caught jigging and I would like to say there was one color better than all of the others but that is not the case. We have constantly changed jig and trailer colors throughout the day until we'd find something that they were keen on and when that color slowed down we tried something else. Grubs, worms, and swimbaits have all worked at one time or another but blade baits have been pretty slow surprisingly.

The attached pictures are from the last couple of weekends

I second that opinion. Looks like there aren't enough fish to go around.

"quote" Can you tell me what the point of posting a report is when you dont say anything other than the body of water and that you were jigging? Sure looks like you guys are fishing way up the Spokane arm, thanks for nothing other then bragging." unquote"
When I post reports I don't give specific locations , either. I figure that I'm already doing everyone interested in that fishery a favor by telling them the bite is on and what is working. You want everything handed to you on a platter? Go hire a guide, exchanging information is what this site is about, I didn't see anything that said you had to hand out maps to do other fishermen a solid. Giving someone a hard time because you want it all is not cool. Bob R

Thanks for the report Mark. Catching big ones is always fun even if you release them. Not getting many to eat, now that's a problem!

There is tons of information in this post if you pay attention. Sorry CCTMark isn't handing out participation trophies.
Here's what I learned:
1) Bite is good on FDR, up higher.
2) Jigging is the technique that is producing, with grubs, worms, and swimbaits. Color doesn't matter much just change up until you find what they want. If they stop biting, change colors again until you get the bite going but give green a try.
3) Blade baits are not producing very well.

Here's a question that the OP might answer that I would find valuable without disrespecting him by asking for a location....what depth were you finding fish CCTMark?

Location is information usually earned by putting in time. So go put in the time.

Back eddies have been the key and will be as long as the water is so low. Depth has varied from 10-45 FOW depending on which back eddy we have been fishing. Walleyes spawn pretty shallow so fishing in 50 - 60 FOW is not ideal this time of year. Walleyes aren't stupid and will only fight the current if they have to so current edges near back eddies are the place to be. I would actually give out more info but I respect the request from my buddies not to be too specific. We have concentrated on three very small areas in the last few weeks that will only hold a couple of boats at best so having 15 guys show up wouldn't help anyone. If you really want more info just IM me and I never said we have been fishing the Arm because we haven't

CCTMark, thanks for the report. Plenty of information; FDR is a huge piece of water and there's plenty of "honey holes" although they change some. Can anyone tell me how the launch is at Fort Spokane! I've got cabin fever so bad I'm not so sure I wouldn't just shove the boat down to the river over rocks if I had to. I gotta get out.

Thanks for the report CCTMark, don't feel pressured by those not willing to go figure it out. Since the weather got warmer there are more trailers in the lots but where was everyone that wants free info in Jan and Feb?
My partner and I have had a great winter fishing season as well. We primarily use blades which seem to catch bigger fish. Our biggest this winter was just over 14. 4 fish over 10 and lots of 7lb +. 20 to 25 fish days was not uncommon.

Thanks for the report! Nice fish. Thanks for sparing us a novel. Not interested in what time alarm went off, how the coffee smelled and so on. We'very all been there.

Great batch of fish.
It is interesting on the reports posted that if someone goes fishing and they do not fill the boat most of the time they rate the trip as a poor or unsuccessful trip. I would think any time your fishing it's a good trip they should never be rated on the quantity but more on the overall success did you see anything that let you enjoy nature? That is a 5 any day.

Once again Great job. Didn't mean to derail the post.

So I've noticed a few comments lately where the person that posted is being harassed for not providing enough "location". Not cool and be aware these types of comments will result in immediate bans. Harassing members that actually post reports is totally not cool.

Good eye Mrs Kris! That fact narrows the location down quite a lot... only one section that I know of where you can keep a big unclipped rainbow! Homework time people! (Sorry Mark...)

This should be a contest. Because it's not Lake Roosevelt and the pics show you were it is.
Thanks for the report.

Correct they were not caught on Roosevelt where the native fish must be released, we had fish and game check us right before we pulled out. I

So if the native trout is "native" does that make it a Red Band?
