BIL and I decided to spend our time down south today. Wind was a steady in your face kind of thing most of the day, but this did not hamper the bite. We started at 7 and had our limits by 2. The roads down were clear, however, lots of fog in the am. By the afternoon, it had cleared up and was actually sunny for the trip home.

We were fishing from shore both with 2 poles. both used pretty much a worm on one poll and powerbait on the other pole all day. Both presentations produced consistently.

1 oz. + sinker above a snap swivel with 3-4' leader got it done.

Thanks for the report. I am new to NWFR and not overly familiar with Roosevelt, more familiar with Rufus Woods. I have an opportunity to fish Roosevelt for a few days in mid-February from the bank. I've seen the WDFW video on bank fishing, and looking for help pinpointing a specific location. Its a 4 hour ride from here, and would like to avoid spending too much time driving around looking when I could be fishing. All replies regarding a good bank fishing spot are welcome. Thanks to all the members for their continued reports on all locations. They have been a big help in the past.

Rougheye-

I here the Ft. Spokane area is rather popular this time of year for bank fisherman. Also, Seven Bays can be a nice go to spot as well.

Rougheye69,
Seems like there are always people bank fishing near all the launches with maybe the exception of Lincoln. If you don't know the area well a big deciding factor would probably be where you are staying. There is good bank fishing near Spring Canyon and also on the other side near the dam so that makes staying at Grand Coulee a good choice. If you stay in Wilbur there are several good spots just on the downstream side of Keller Ferry. Lots of bank fisherman around Seven Bays and Ft. Spokane. I think that WDFW video that I watched was shot in the Hansen Harbor area above Keller. Never driven there myself but would be another good place if you are staying in Wilbur. All in all I would think staying in Grand Coulee and trying Spring Canyon and the dam would be a decent place to start. Good Luck!

Thanks Kevinbe and Part-Time. The Grand Coulee area is the home base, so will hit Spring Canyon for sure. Part-Time, I think you are correct about the video being at Hanson Harbor. I looked on Google earth and all the reference points I could see in the video led me to believe the same thing. I appreciate all the tips and info. Good luck and good fishing..
