We fished below Keller Ferry. Upon arrival there were only 2 rigs in the parking lot at 8:30. My friend Brian and I were dressed for the cold. But, the breeze would cut right through you. We managed 3 trout each and one Kokanee. Brian picked up the Koke with an orange, J-7 Rapala. The Koke was 18'' and the biggest Bow was 20''. The Bows were picked up with orange or pink flies and the Rapala. We used downriggers at 5-12 feet with 2 rods. We flat lined one rod and used a side winder on one. Our speed varied from 1.5 - 2.5. There were a few other fishin' fools out there. But, we didn't see any nets flying.
We had good roads to travel both to and from. Fog was very tiring to drive in getting there. I had concerns of de-icer getting on my new boat.
We saw deer, turkeys, ducks, geese and Bald eagles.
The one major glitch we had occurred at the launch. All 4 tires were frozen solid at the disc brakes! The trailer bucked, bunny hopped and slid all the way to the water! After that it was trouble free. I'll carry a small propane torch in the future.
It was good to be able to scratch that itch!

Great report! I need to get out. A lot of people doubt we fish in this weather. I think if you pick your day, it's a great way to beat cabin fever. How was the ramp?

Thanks for the report AFK. I bet it would of been fun to watch that frozen trailer bounce around.

Hey OGF, we did get lucky for a day on the water! The ramp was in excellent shape. Not enough ice for the frozen trailer brakes to break free or slide. I'm telling the truth when I say bucked and hopped down the ramp!
Hey Bent, sorry you had to work or you could have seen it. It was actually a little unnerving/scary. Brian was reluctant to break something on my rig. Luckily we didn't have an audience while we scratched our heads.(LOL)

Nice report Andy. Looking at the forecast for the week and wondering if it is doable. Jim

Hey Jim, it looks hit and miss. I've drove up there to fish from shore due to lousy forecast and the water was calm. I've pulled the boat up there and fished from shore due to rough conditions. I'd like to hit again. We'll see!

My Brother sent me a clipping from a MN paper about a guy that took a torch to his wheels, but he didn't take off his
plastic wheel and nut covers first - had kind of a mess - Bro advises a 9000 BTU (minimum) heater on top of a propane
tank - won't melt the nut covers either if set back a foot or so. Nice looking pan full - sauteed on a bed of pasta alfreado
would be good on a cold night. Going to have to fish vicariously via these reports until it warms up a bit more - age
and cold wx do tend to slow one down and dampen the enthusiasm level - good time to clean and oil the reels and order
a few of those "K" flies. C U soon.

Nice job out there! It's always rewarding when you get through some difficulties and get to go out and grab some fish. Thanks for the report.

Great report Andy and nice to see another kokanee in the trout mix. I've had frozen brakes too (mine are drum) but they always release if I back up.I did pull from parking lot to ramp once with trailer sliding around behind me on the snow/ice, trailer looked like it had a mind of its own. :-D

Well keep me in mind in the future as long as there are no 4 letter words we are good. Again I appreciate the opportunity.

Hey Phil, it is amazing what we'll do to wet a line sometimes!
Hey Bent, you mean like Rain, Snow, Work, Wind or Cold? LOL
Hey Brian, it was a good start!

Hey uplandsandpiper, you are spot on. I had questioned it myself at the time of posting. I'm told they wash down from Lake Coeur Dalene.

Thanks for the report Andy; glad to see you putting that boat to good use! I'm looking at getting up there this coming Saturday. Hopefully the roads cooperate and the fish are hungry, very hungry!

Hey Alan, the forecast looks fairly dry! But, a couple of four letter words such as COLD and WIND. Be careful out there. I hope it happens for you. I look forward to your report. My next chance will be the 22nd.
