My grandson and I broke loose and headed down to Roosevelt yesterday. Based on DownriggerAl's report and a phone call I opted for Ft. Spokane rather than Lincoln. Worked out pretty well for us fishing in the confluence. We started fishing around 10 and had the first one in the boat at 10:20. While it was never really a hot bite we doubled up once and managed our limits in around 3 hours. Pretty good for trying a new area thinks I. We never caught anything truly big but some of those 16 inchers seemed about 3 times as big as a 14 incher. Deep slab sided beauties that really made some nice fillets. The launch was mostly clear and had gravel on it but I did witness my rig sliding backwards a bit while we were unloading gear from the boat. Didn't go far, didn't go fast but it sure got my heart rate up for a minute. Caught one on a pink hoochie on the down rigger at 12 ft that I was hoping might produce a Kokanee. All other fish were caught on Kekeda flies, either orange or perch. Speed was around 2-2.3 mph, 175 ft back on leaded lines.
Keep after them, it's the right thing to do.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

Sounds like a really fun outing. A great way for him to spend Christmas break, fishing with Grandpa. Good looking fish too. I just finished up eating our last batch of smoked trout from our Thanksgiving trip and we'll be heading out next week for more. Thanks for the report and as always I appreciate you using the flies and letting us know how you did with them.
