Launched Porcupine @ 0600 and took a short troll in the narrows from the beige pump house to the creek, nothing.
Cleaned up and headed for the #5 can to work our way up from there - started with dark colors in the shade of the
hills, but nothing to show for it - switched to bright green/chartreuse and started to pick up a few, but the wind was
starting to get pesky - long story short; caught 1/2 doz nice 'eyes, couple of smallies and a trip/bow - boat control
became impossible so folded up by 1030 and headed in. Back home the bride and I had a long discussion over beer
and wine and decided to do something we almost never do - go for it two days in a row.

8/4 - in the water before 0600 and headed straight for the #5 can. Started with the green colors and only mixed
blades, 1 1/2' smile and #3/#4 decorated colorado blades - started with #2 slow death, but after losing several
switched to 1/0 - it worked - colorado blades with either slow death or #1 hook with stinger trailing worms all did
the trick. By 1230 the heat finally ran us off the water - at 76 & 75 the old gray mare and studly ain't what we
usta be, but we're still out there some where. There were a couple of guys from Idaho at the ramp and they followed
us upriver not ever having been up that far before - glad to have you along guys and hope you did OK - somebody
did the same for us a few years back when we had never been up above the #7 can - glad to payback and do it
for someone else - we really appreciated it when done for us.

Conclusions: This was a banger of a day for us with walleye. There are not as many this year as in past, but they
are definitely larger - smallest for the day was 17" and the largest 22 1/2" - now we have always had a 22" keeper
limit for walleye, regardless of where we fish over here on the east side - the big one was my wife's and I started
to say something about it being over our size limit - I didn't have my hearing aids in, so didn't catch all of what she
said, but I did hear something about "if you do............hard hat........lawyer......." anyway I then said this one
will make a couple of fine filets - and all ended well.
