Today we had a fabulous day of Sockeye fishing in the Brewster Pool. Our day started off targeting Summer Chinook. The chinook bite was decent, but went dead early. We were 2-4 on chinook In just about 4 hours. Meanwhile we were watching a few sockeye caught so we decided to switch gears, and boy am I glad o did! In just an hour and a half we managed to put a 9 fish limit of sockeye into the boat.

We found most fish at 35 feet on our line counter with 6 oz of lead. Our best producing set up was a pink 1.1 smile blade to a #4 treble hook with a small pink dyed coon shrimp.

This Sunday 7/31/16 is the only day aviable left for fishing the Brewster Pool. Sunday evening I will be heading to Astoria to start my Bouy 10 season. We still have dates open for this awesome fishery as well. Give us a call at 208-861-0654 and let's get your trip booked

Just curious, why do you guys use 6 oz lead instead of just using your downriggers? I have seen this done a lot this year and have not understood why. Thanks Hewesbob

Sandy bottom run it like a back bounce. Same why we fished for Springers in Portland. popular with a a lot of boats on the river. My guess.

Hewesbob, the reason I use cannon balls is that it is way easier for me to run lots of rods with lead. Also downriggers are very expensive and I do great without them so I decided I don't need to spend $2,000 dollars on equipment I dont need. I have yet to find a fishery I want to fish where I would be required to make that expense.

When fishing less than 50' deep I really don't have a need for them.

With the above said, I don't fish Lake Wenatchee. If I did u would use downriggers. Sorry to hear about your recent experience with some of the guides out there. If you ever need anything please don't hesitate to ask me.
