We fished Sockeye yesterday at Wells Dam. This report would be a 5, but it took us a little longer to get our limit than I would have liked. We finished our sockeye limit by 9am, and then switched over to fish for Chinook for the rest of the day.

Our most productive sockeye setup was an 11 inch sling blade dodger, 12 inches of leader, Pink/chrome scale 1.1 inch smile blade, one 6mm red bead, to a #4 Gamakatsu Treble hook. We tipped this with our pink dyed coon shrimp. Or most productive depth was 15 feet on the line counter with 4 ounces of lead. We caught fish from 10-19 feet on the line counter, but 15 feet was by far our most productive depth. Hopefully this good sockeye bite will continue for a few weeks as the Thermal Barrier at the Brewster Pool sets back up.

After finishing our Sockeye trip we switched over to Chinook and went 1-3 in 3 hours fishing well after the sun had come up. On our designated Chinook trips we have been landing between 4 and 6 fish in a few hours in the morning. This area is really a fantastic Chinook fishery!

I have openings this week Thursday (14th) and Friday (15th) for full boats, and a single seat open on Saturday. We also have openings over the following 2 weeks, so give us a call at 208-861-0654 to set up your trips.
