Well, I'll be danged if I can find a location to report fishing in the Spokane arm so I put it here. :)
My brother and I launched out of Porcupine Bay and fished a small tournament organized by some folks from his work, that had 35 or so contestants. I have fished it a few times in the past but have never managed to win before. This time I struck GOLD !! Yee haw.
It seemed the fishing was good for the guys targeting trout, but walleyes of any size were not overly abundant this year. 45 minutes into the day, I got this 5lber on a 3" Big Hammer swim bait and it managed to win the walleye division.
The two of us only caught 6 walleyes on the day. My brother Bill got the honor of reeling in the smallest walleye I have ever seen caught. I think it would have measured about 5" but he didn't put a tape to the big girl. I'm not sure if he wanted to get the fish back in the water so quickly so it could have a better chance at survival, or if he was just preventing me from getting a picture of it.
Not a stellar day for catching a ton of fish, but the weather was fantastic, and we had fun. We caught fish in depths of 15-35 feet. Water temps we saw ran from 42-47 degrees. Half the fish came on the jig and big hammer or a gulp grub. The others on bottom bouncers and smile blades with slow death hook and crawlers. Purple or chartreuse blades. If you fish the Spokane arm, watch the depth finder closely. I was slipping my coat on for a run and managed to clip a rock. Note to self: Put your coat on before you start moving. DUMMY
I suggested adding a section for the Spokane Arm a year ago because nobody posts Spokane Arm fishing reports under the Spokane River, they all end up in section 18 which is Hwy 25 bridge to Grand Coulee dam.
Nice to see you mixing things up! Also you forgot to blur out the house in the backdrop ;) I'm hoping to get out there this weekend if its not to windy.
Hey Dan, It's good to hear from you again. I never worry about people being able to pinpoint where I catch walleyes. My pike spots are a little different though.
